Samedi fete

Tomorrow we’re having a dual celebration here at Artaud.

One part is for Rebecca Rosen Lum’s birthday and the other is for John and Susan Sullivan’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Rebecca is very sweet, the winner of a Pulitzer Prize in journalism. She currently suffers from Parkinson’s. I collaborated with her husband, Hesh Rosen on several performance pieces in the past. He sadly died of a heart attack a few years ago. Before all that, the couple came to one of my performance pieces. Rebecca remarked, “Boy, you can really tell when someone’s studied ballet.” At that point, I hadn’t. My Scottish Highland dancing had similar training/technique which I explained to her.

Then the Sullivan’s achievement. John has a print shop next to their studio here. They also have a condo down the Peninsula. Susan is the president of our illustrious organization. So, they’ve both contributed both to Artaud and the community. And 50 years. Wow!

There will be champagne and cupcakes. Rebecca’s learning French (good exercise for her condition) so, my card to her is in French, bien sur.

The event is taking place in the Main Hallway, which seems a little stark to me. Accessible, certainly.

Myra keeps me up to date with local news. She’s going to a sand castle building event at Ocean Beach tomorrow. That sounds fun. I’m sure she’ll take photos.

That’s the wrap up…
