Netflix film du Jour

“Forgotten Love” was really good. It’s a Polish film about a highly accomplished surgeon who gets mugged after his wife leaves him taking his daughter. As a result of the mugging, he has a head concussion followed by amnesia. That’s the bleak set up.

He becomes a drifter. In the process, he settles in a small town doing menial tasks for work. He remembers nothing. Then, as the villagers succumb to one medical emergency after another, he heals them. He fixes a dislocated arm, multiple fractures to one guy’s legs, even brain surgery with tools he swiped from an incapable doctor. I’ll leave it there. It is funny, charming.

Among the other medical Netflix offerings is “Best Medicine”. The main character is a surgeon (again) from Boston this time. He moves to a small town on the coast of Maine and opens an office for general medicine. He doesn’t like interacting with people. I.E. he’s a snob. The story becomes how the townsfolk gradually melt his demeanor. It’s alright. “Forgotten Love” is better, in my opinion.

Speaking of opinions, I made a post on Nextdoor about Waymos. To that I received 1,700 responses, filling up my inbox. There were more than that as there were taggers-on to most posts-back. I’d say 98% of the responders like Waymo. OK, fine. I was basing my post on a New Yorker article I read. The New Yorker does fact check. Driverless cars still spook me out.

So, Nextdoor was impressed by all the traffic (not on the road) and asked me to create a new post. I replied, No, thank you.

Getting my vaccines tomorrow – whoopee! My life is so exciting. Which is quite fine by me…
