Weekend update

Saturday, Brian had another Salon with two acts.

The first was Suzanne Ramsey, who goes by her stage name ‘Kitty on the Keys’. Sort of 1920’s style swing songs. At first I was put off by her exaggerated smile and winks to supposedly engage the audience. When she settled into the music, it was quite good. Toward the end of her set, she did a piece that alternated piano with accordion. That was impressive.

The second part featured a comic trio, Society of Rockets. They had a front man/stand up, a guitar accompaniment, and a mime figure who had a wooden screen with holes that he poked his hands and feet through variously, including throwing baby shoes. He wore white face. I found him difficult to watch, but the other two, particularly the main guy were good.

After the show was over, Lourdes, Javier and I went to our little park and talked about the show and other things. Lourdes went on about the metal breast plate Pepe Ozan made for her for Burning Man a few years back. While she was describing it she pointed to each of her ample breasts. Javier and I shared a couple of side glances that indicated we knew, kind of, what she was talking about. It was a bit humorous, but Lourdes was quite sincere.

Then when I told them about my Audiobook narration plan, Javier suggested that I should do it right away to jump in before AI takes the industry over. Good point.

Sunday has been the usual stuff, although my email box got filled with responses from a post I made on Nextdoor about Waymo. Seems to have struck a nerve. Most of the comments were in favor of the driverless cars. Many people don’t want to talk to a driver. To me, it’s another win for AI and sad that a large number of people prefer to have a polite exchange with a service person.
