Usually when my birthday rolls around, it’s just another year. Somehow this three quarters of a century has given me pause. It’s still a couple of days away and already I’ve received meaningful gifts and cards. So, why am I unsettled?
I plan to go to Anchor Oyster Bar and eat oysters and a Caesar salad with a Demi bouteille of Champagne. That’s all. But I haven’t been able to find someone to go with me. Everyone is out of town, other plans, rain check. Nick, my 21 year old Sunday helper will be around.
Here’s the thing, I like Nick. But he’s 21. That makes me a reverse agist. His interests, which he can go on for at length, are video games, online gambling and Urban exploration (breaking into off limits places). And his appetite for food is limitless. I have no idea how many oysters he could consume, I’m guessing more than I can afford. You can see my reluctance here.
Well, I do intend to go, one way or the other. Solo is looking pretty good. After I come home, there is a workday in progress. I’ll change into gardening clothes and pitch in.
Connie made me a beautiful hand crocheted open book with flowers and butterflies rising out of it. I love the symbolism. Patti send me a framed photograph of she and Dick with a story behind it. How lovely those both are.
So, there’s nothing to complain about (overlooking the state of the country). Only thankfulness to be reasonably healthy. And love those close.
