Tonight’s feature, “Benji”, starred the dog named Benji in the film. This dog did the impossible/unrealistic over and over to save the day. The dog actor had extremely good behavior and super smarts. For example : The kids are taken hostage by two bad guys. The kids are locked up in an abandoned warehouse. Benji locates the key and inserts it, turning the key until the door opens. Could your dog do that? Kids are alive. During the fast dog chase scene, Benji takes a fall. For a split second, he appears dead. I cried , but not much. I kept thinking about the number of ‘takes’ it would have required. And how they got more that one overworked dog to be the same size and skill level? A dog double? Naps and treats, no doubt.
Sprinkler update:
We were given notification that today everyone would have inspectors enter each individual space to check the Sprinklers. This inspection happens every five years. The time was to be between 9 am and 1 pm. That’s a window for sure, a large picture window. I was apprehensive. I needed not to be. The one inspector did the work while another rode shotgun, or rather, went over notes not connected to my inspection. Anyhow the one guy comes in, I explain that there are four sprinklers on the main floor and four in the loft. I guess he was looking for obstructions like laundry covering the pipes. No ‘how do you do’ or explanation. And the whole thing took 3 minutes or less. Less I think. The pipes in the main area are 15 feet above the floor. I would have to be Benji to leap that high with damp cloths and drape them over the pipes to dry.
Sunday is my birthday. I plan to go to Anchor Oyster bar. Their oysters are tops from past experience. So far the two people I’ve invited to join me are previously engaged. The third person has out of town plans that are not confirmed yet. It’s a ‘maybe’. I don’t mind going alone, but obviously company would be better. This makes me realize how solitary I’ve become. Well, maybe I’ll meet someone at the oyster bar…..
