Listening to the BBC, that’s how Brits pronounce ‘Family’. Emphasis on the first syllable ‘FAM”, drop the i, and add a short lee. The ‘Soapy’ Netflix shows also share the true wisdom that family is most important when you’re lining up priorities. Of course family may be comprised of or include deep friendships.
I’ve been caught up watching “When Hope Calls”. Netflix lost my connection mid-episode. Fortunately it was at a point when no one was about to die. Me included. I made several attempts to restart. Then I decided the show should be called “When Hope Calls, Nobody Answers”. I finally got it going again by skipping the episode I was watching and going to the next. It didn’t matter. This series has the same characters and it promises to go on forever.
Family nicknames: A girlfriend and her brother had a nickname for their grandmother – Granma 2-tissues. That was because, as children, their grandmother admonished them to use only two toilet tissues per use of the toilet. I can imagine how that happened. The grandmother grew up during the Great Depression when saving resources was imperative and children might see anything that rolls as a toy.
We’re having an electrical inspection next week. There seems to be confusion with PG&E between the few studios that have meters and the rest of us, whose utility bill is included in the rent. The metered people installed the meters at different times with different companies. So, the inspectors are going through the whole building. I have no doubt this place will be baffling. To me, it’s an inconvenience.
I received a notice that the County is looking for poll workers. Top pay is $295. For the day. I’ve done that twice before. It’s a long day, starting at 6 am until 8 pm. I’m pretty sure the top pay is for the precinct leader, which means you are responsible for delivering all your precinct ballots to Rincon Annex. You need a car and time to wait in the vehicle line up. By not working the polls, the conflict for me is that each election is becoming more and more important. Critical, in fact.
Had some ice cream, chocolate and a Madeleine cookie. I’m sweetly full and off to bed.
