Work in Progress

Met with the new podiatrist today, Dr. Blythe. He was able to perform half a miracle. In the waiting room there was a glass case filled with ceramic high heeled shoes. In the exam room, he explained a lot about how and why the difficult callous had developed. It was very informative, but I was not in a position to take notes. He began going at it with a small sculptor’s knife and I began to wince. He had explained why cortisone would counteract the healing. Would I like him to numb it? What do you think? Of COURSE. Three shots later, he started carving away. Upon completion, he told me it would take 2-3 hours for the numbing to go away. I’m fine with a numb foot. I have to return in three weeks and map out further care from there. That’s why it’s a work in progress. Arthritis and age play a factor, as well as my former pounding the ball of the foot through dancing.

The taxi driver going home was from India. He was familiar with Project Artaud and asked if I was an artist and what kind? I told him I had been a dancer and didn’t get further when he spoke about Bollywood. Yes, not that type, here we are.

After a few hours, I did my ballet barre workout, going cautiously. All I can say at this early point is that Dr. Blythe knows his stuff! Pain gone and I now have to work on rebalancing my weight, which was favoring the other side.

I’ve been watching. “Grace and Frankie”on Netflix. Jane Fonda and Lili Tomlin star. The comedy deals with age issues. The set-ups keep you engaged. Like all series, it goes on and on. It’s fun, but you have to decide how much time you want to spare.

I returned John’s teapot which I had been putting off. It had been his mother’s. I used the elevator and just as I reached his door, he arrived by the stairs. The timing was unexpected. He asked if I wanted to keep it? I doubt if he’ll ever use it, but it was too significant for the free table. It has been twenty years since We were divorced. Time to say goodbye…

Happy Birthday to my sister, Connie!!!
