Science Friday

I’m not talking about the NPR show. But it is Friday and this is about science. My library books arrived. Here’s what I have: the Bill Bryson book, “A Short History of Nearly Everything”. Only on page 17 and loving it!

Then, “Packing for Mars” by Mary Roach, “Ways of Seeing” by John Berger and “The Library Book” by Susan Orlean. These last three were recommended by the librarian. “The Library Book” is about the 1989 L.A. fire and how it demolished the library in its path. It was suspected to be caused by one Harry Peak, an actor. That takes the term ‘bad actor’, used in politics, to a new level. Why did he do that? Looking for a script they didn’t have? Didn’t he know you can express angst onstage and have an audience?

Right. Fire is no joke. When I was placing the book request, the librarian(very nice) must have thought I was into non-fiction exclusively. Not so. I really enjoy historical fiction. Next time.

Onto Netflix reviews: I watched “Something’s Gotta Give”, with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. Mmm. I laughed once. It must be my perspective, but I don’t consider 63 to be over the hill. Alright, Jack has a cardiac condition. After they’ve broken up and he has several heart attacks, guess who nurses him back to health? That’s right, bien sur.
