Once again

Myra came to the rescue. My screen here had frozen and I couldn’t get it out of Zoom. That’s a relief. Ready for tomorrow’s sister zoom and now I know how to unfreeze it. Whew!

Also, I got things straightened out with Netflix, which was too boring to go into detail about. Then I sat back and had a double feature!

First up was ‘Matilda’. It’s a story about a child with an unfortunate family. She likes to read and is precocious, which her lowlife family doesn’t get. When she is old enough for school, it is run by a wicked witch headmistress. She is taken underwing by the sympathetic teacher aptly named, Miss Honey. Lots of challenges ensue until she discovers she possesses a magic power and delightfully gets even. Fun.

Then I watched ‘The Choice’. It starts out with a woman moving into a house next door to a man who has outdoor parties, plays loud music and generally irritates her. They both have dogs. His gets hers pregnant. He recommends a vet clinic without telling her he himself is a vet and both he and his Dad work there. OK, jump to their falling in love. Here’s choice one: she has to ditch her fiancé who’s been away for months. They done, romance and marriage. Children. Idyllic. Then Gabby (the woman) has a car accident (clued by ominous clouds and music) and is hospitalized for a very long time. Travis (the husband) won’t sign the let-her-off life support papers. But that is ambiguous. You (or at least I) don’t know if she died or not because you see Travis visiting the cemetery. This goes on and on and I thought what a lousy way to end this. It has a happy ending. There I go again, being a spoiler. I really didn’t know how to rate it when the screen asks at the end.

”There I Go Again”, wasn’t that the title of a Dolly Parson song? It was sad news that she died today. The news reported all the philanthropic work she did besides being a famous singer and writer. When I was wife of Artist in Residence at U. T., one of my friends, Addy Brownlee, was a HUGE Dolly fan. I didn’t get it at the time. I’m sure Addy’s in mourning.

On that note (mourning), there’s another Dick Vivian tribute this Thursday at a club he D.J.ed at. I’m going to try to go. Dick did (in his words) a mean Turkey Trot. That’s a dance if you don’t know. Shake a tail feather!

I wasn’t allowed to edit, so please overlook a couple of errors. Thanks.
