Netflix won’t start up for me again until next Monday. I had changed my email and somehow that was a problem. Not to worry.
We have a lending library in our building and I picked up “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” by Jenny Lawson, The Bloggess. It has a white mouse on the cover standing on its hind legs and wearing a Shakespearean collar and cape. The book was pretty good. I laughed out loud a few times. She used ‘fuck’ too much, but maybe that’s just how she speaks. The mouse had a real role in the story.
And then PBS was broadcasting “A Fish Called Wanda”. I had seen it years ago and all I remembered was the end when Kevin Kline gets run over by a huge cement roller. And then Jaime Lee Curtis flies to Rio with her adulterous Barrister. It is funny. Now that I’ve given away the end, I’d say it’s still worth seeing. Jewelry heist stories seem to captivate me. I am sure the writers had fun with that one.
That was followed by “Cat on a Hot tin Roof”, with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. Again, an odd line up, coming after “Fish”. Is Big Daddy dying or not? Did Elizabeth have sex with Skipper and cause his death? That I will not give away. Both Elizabeth and Paul looked terrific. The obnoxious characters, including children, were super obnoxious. Even Big Daddy could not stand them. Then I drifted off, so I don’t know who got the inheritance.
A high school boyfriend of mine, Fred Gaynor, edited the school newspaper. He gave it the byline “All the News That Fits”. That sums up this blog post.
