This is pretty big and great. Six years ago a member of our large live/work non-profit began the process of applying for and getting a grant to construct a system that catches rainwater in three locations, purifies it in a large cistern and distributes it to our garden and neighbors. Any overflow runs into the sewer. Today, we celebrated it’s completion with a potluck in our garden we call ‘Jack Hammer’ because that’s what it took to create the grassy park in the middle of a concrete parking lot. Perfect weather. I made a massive lentil salad with fennel and feta cheese. Table overflowing and the corner grill going, Lots to eat and two separate tours of the project. Big kudos to Amy Rathbone, the project’s conceptionist and steward!!!
Now I have 2 and a half quarts of lentil salad leftovers. That’s what the freezer’s for. The online recipe said it would take 30 minutes to prepare. I must have a different clock. Or, online cooks are like the TV chefs, who have everything chopped and once they put the dish in the oven for 20 minutes, They show you opening and closing the oven and that’s how they time it when on TV time it took 5 seconds.
In other domestic tasks, post picnic, I was tired and folded all my clean towels and wash cloths lying down. I didn’t think it was possible, but I proved it. If you’re concerned about time, I wouldn’t recommend it. It was a good arm exercise, though.
