Organization takes time

It seems like flyers procreate in your mailbox. That’s an awfully lot of wasted paper. It’s exacerbated during election time.

Anticipated hosting a book club here, I began to sift through and shred the quasi-interesting (not junk) mail that had stacked up. I’m glad I got serious. There were a few important notices to keep. Still it will take a few more hours to complete.

For a repas, I made a fresh tomato, mozzarella and basil dish. Yum!

Then the routine : clean up and work out.

Finally I settled in for a TV double feature. Today it was “The Secret Woman” and “Live Twice, Love Once”.

“The Secret Woman” had a complicated plot, Too much to go into. Toward the end, one line made me laugh out loud. It went like this: The woman of the title leaves her boyfriend in his car and says, “If I’m not back in ten minutes, come look for me.” The interior scene escalates. The woman picks up a lamp intending to throw it at the bad guy. The bad guy is REALLY bad, human trafficker, etc. The lamp hits his mother, who falls out the window and dies. Meanwhile the boyfriend calls the cops before he goes in after her. Here’s the line to the police: “I think I’ll need some back-up.” Understatement? I had to laugh despite the high drama.

Moving along, “Live Twice, Love Once” was very endearing. You had to love the main character, a brilliant (naturally) math professor whose daughter wants him to move into an Alzheimer’s care facility. He is vehemently opposed. His wife died five years previous to our story. He wants to find a woman, Margarite, he was deeply in love with before meeting and marrying his wife. He, his daughter and his granddaughter take a road trip to find Margarite. There are obstacles. The daughter is not ‘hot’ on the idea. The professor is vague about where Margarite is. The granddaughter takes granddad’s side. And, of course, Alzheimer confusion adds to the mix. That’s something my sisters and I could relate to with our own Dad. I won’t give away the end of the movie. It is bitter sweet.
