I decided not to go to Dolores Park tomorrow for the Rescue Dog demonstration because: I don’t think I could stand for an hour and a half and even if I tried, I would be afraid of my cane penetrating the grass and wobbling. That makes me sad. I did want to see it.
So, it might be better for the sound disrupting of the Blue Angels, because at home I have my sound muffling headgear. Yes I could take that ear cover to the park, but I assume I’d want to say something to fellow observers occasionally.
I think they have canes with a foldout seat. I’ll research that. And maybe a cane with a four prong tip.
I finished watching “My Brilliant Career”. I liked it (medium warm review). The lead decides against marriage in the end (leaving two suitors, the last particularly likable – I routed for him) to go off to the city to pursue her writing career. Early feminist.
Then, still early, I watched “the Adventures of ‘a long Jewish name’ (?)”. The main character falls for a non-Jew, to the horror of his parents. The Rabbi sends him to Israel, where he has an affair, but ends up back home with the Shiksa. Then she’s not going for him moving in with her after his parents kicked him out. A couple more disappointments until Laura, the Shiksa, calls him back.
When I was with Mel, his friend Mike White, called me a ‘goy’ and asked if I knew what that meant? Yes, another term for non-Jew. Out of the tribe.
Mike has an interesting history. As a young kid, he escaped Nazi Germany in the winter on foot. It could be a movie it’s so dramatic. He eventually comes to the U.S. where he becomes a medical doctor. A long productive life, now he and wife Libby live in a Jewish rest home. Naturally, Mike was one of the speakers at Mel’s memorial, which included myself and Mel’s racquet ball partner, Doc (Not medical, a nickname). Mike is long winded and enjoys public speaking, perhaps because of his student lectures.
That’s all for now. I am TV watched out…. Mosel tov!
