The news said ballots were in the mail. Indeed so. Mine was sitting in my mail box along with a stack of campaign flyers. My neighbor, Corey and Monkey, her dog, were there, too. She told me about tracking your ballot so you can be sure it arrived and is counted. Will do. Ha ha Mr Trump.
I divided my entertainment time today between Ellen Gilchrist’s novel, “I Cannot Get You Close Enough” and “East of Eden” on Netflix. Comparing the two (an odd comparison), both have hard to get through scenes. But the later takes the grim to a deeper level.
I was wondering how many versions of “East of Eden” were made? Three. All based on the book by John Steinbeck. The one I’d seen before was the 1955 version with James Dean. That one focused on the very last part of the book. Maybe when I get toward the end, it will all seems familiar. Given the length of Netflix series, I have much more watching to do.
Myra’s taking me out tomorrow for a belated birthday lunch. We’re going to my favorite French bistro, Chez Mama. I plan to have my usual, French onion soup and a salad. I may switch from Caesar salad to one of the others. All delicious.
Both John O’Keefe and neighbor Phil Deal have their birthdays tomorrow. I wrote both a card. Phil’s I taped to his door. I was unwilling to go up three flights to deliver John’s. His mailbox lock has been broken forever, it seems. So, I just placed it in there while checking my own mail (back to ballot). Fait accompli!
