Netflix addiction

Here’s the thing. I am a sucker for frontier dramas. I start watching one and then it’s one episode after the next. This came about after I wrote and performed “Postcards”, about pioneers in the 1890’s. Willa Cather and such. So, now I’m watching “When Hope Calls”.

“When Hope Calls” is set somewhere in a fictitious town where the authorities wear Red jackets and have the emblem of Mounted police. Presumably Canada. The bloodshed is minimal and there are numerous love triangles. I’m thinking how many cameras did it take to get that shot? Or how do the women have their hair ironed into long spiral locks when they’re fighting fire or running an orphanage? Surely buckets of water go to putting out the fire, not shampooing. The horses are treated well. The villains fall into ‘who-dun-it’.

I got new stamps today. They look like a Keith Haring drawing of a stick figure holding up a heart. Forever. I started wondering about Forever stamps. Does that mean the Postal Service can raise their prices, but still these stamps will be honored?

So many questions. Back to the next “When Hope Calls” episode…
