After our sister chat today, I had a light dinner and began watching “One Hundred Years of Solitude”. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a genius.
I read the book a hundred years ago. It’s taking a hundred hours to watch. But hard to turn off. Time is finite, eternity has begun. Alchemy plays a significant role with characters coming back to life and manipulation of events. It’s 3 am, I did drift off. My teeth are brushed and ready for bed and I’m tempted to turn it back on. The patriarch (I get lost with Spanish names) who went crazy and is tied to the big tree begins speaking Latin and playing chess with the unwanted priest, for one example. The girl who eats dirt is repulsive. How long did it take Marquez to think up and write this epic?
The firing squad ending. Is foretold. Since I can’t remember how it does end, I’m expecting it to take us to a magical transformation. If you read this, don’t tell me.
C’est toute pour maintenant.
