Especially today at another of Brian Goggin’s monthly Art Salon. There was a duo by the name of ‘The Dying Eyes’. There was a female member, Monica Corbin sang an accapello solo in a pure, clear voice that knocked my socks off, so to speak.
And then fellow neighbor, Jonah Roll, gave an ‘Art Talk’. Having grown up in Hawaii, his work is ocean oriented with whales and fish and mystery. Beforehand, he told me he didn’t know what he was going to say. As the images of his paintings were projected, he became very articulate. Including how dreams affected and inspired him. He is also a Jungian, which he told me after my ‘3 Animas of C.G.Jung’ show at a previous Art Salon. A man sitting next to me complimented my gloves with roll-back leopard spots. I return the compliment, admiring his checked jacket. He got it in Bisbee, AZ. I said that’s near the border? He replied, ’Yes, have you been there? ‘ Me: No, but I had relatives that lived there. Music resumes.
Then the was a fellow who I had met at last month’s
Salon. His group had just cut their first album. He said he was pleased to see me walking without assistance. I said, Oh no, my rolling walker is Parker over there in the corner. I walked from the corner to this front row seat. We agreed every step is significant. There was an after party in our small garden afterward, to which I bowed out. Getting cold. But, what a fun time! Everybody was interesting.
